Typical RIE style Playgroup & Parent Guidance class format:
RIE Classes are an observational playgroup follow the following approximate format; after a warm-in, the caregivers will sit back and watch the infants play with safe, developmentally appropriate, open-ended play objects.
There will be minimal interruption or discussion for the first portion of our time together unless your child needs/wants you and unless the facilitator needs to intervene to support the infant’s safety.
We will then have a conversation about what we observed and parents have an opportunity to ask questions about RIE parenting and infant development.
The pace will feel slow, calm, and mindful. The conversation is intended to feel supportive and informative.
Adults will benefit through connecting with a respectful and supportive community and gain confidence in their ability to raise their child in a way that aligns with their values.
Babies will benefit from uninterrupted play, the opportunity to move freely, and developmentally appropriate socialisation with peers.
Adults and babies will benefit from a strengthened relationship based on respect.
Adults and babies will benefit from having a designated time each week to slow down, be present and enjoy each other’s company.
